What Will Black Friday 2020 Look Like?
As the end of the year approaches so does the holiday season. How will the 2020 holiday shopping season look? Will we even leave the house?
With the pandemic still in full swing the long lines of Black Friday shoppers looks less and less likely across the country. The threat of the virus plus widespread unemployment may make holiday 2020 a lot less cheerful.
If you are planning on shopping for holiday gifts but are wary about spending too much money in a time of so much uncertainty you are not alone. Many retailers are anticipating this and are adjusting savings to be much more appealing to shoppers. So what do you need to know about Black Friday 2020?
It’s Not Just One Day Anymore
In response to the pandemic and Amazon’s popular Prime Day many big-box retailers will be offering Black Friday-like deals throughout November and December with some already starting in October. By doing this they can hopefully spread out shoppers instead of dealing with large crowds over one weekend that could easily spread the virus.
Target will be posting deals through November and has already posted some as ‘Deal Days’ promotions in October. Walmart will be doing something similar with a month-long Black Friday event starting November 4.
No Need To Leave The House
With social distancing rules in place crowds are probably the last thing anyone wants in November. That is why many retailers who usually do a lot of business physically (Target, Walmart, Best Buy) are making their online deals just as amazing and offering free or reduced shipping for most orders.
If you still want to shop in store you can but be prepared for the stores to be more strict about the number of shoppers allowed in at a time and longer waits outside to get in. Stores may also still offer curbside or in-store pickup depending unless the demand is overwhelming.
The Deals May Be Better
With the economy in a downturn, retailers are desperate to get your business so the deals may be better than they ever have been. Target says it is adding more than 1 million more deals for this year’s holiday shopping season and others like Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon will be following suit. Things like electronics, toys and video games will likely see the biggest discounts. This holiday season might be the best time to replace that old tv or computer in your own home if you are looking for some savings.
